   LEVEL 3 GAS Technician APPRENTICESHIP 

Gas Technician - LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA DURATION 
 
The Gas Technician Level 3 Diploma is delivered over two years, with one day per week attendance at college for 35 weeks per year (day‑release model). 
To meet the required guided learning hours, block delivery sessions will also be scheduled, particularly for the Electrical and Gas technical units. 
 
INTRODUCTION 
 
Our Level 3 Gas Technician qualification provides the advanced technical knowledge, practical skills, and industry‑standard competencies required to progress into a career as a fully qualified Domestic Gas Technician. 
 
This programme is ideal for learners who have already achieved a Level 2 qualification, as you will automatically progress onto this Level 3 pathway. 
 
Training Location – Northampton Centre 
Training is delivered at our EAS Northampton Centre, a highly accessible location with excellent transport links across the Midlands and surrounding regions.

Throughout the apprenticeship, learners collect workplace evidence to demonstrate competence across all gas engineering tasks. This portfolio supports progression to the End‑Point Assessment (EPA) and ensures apprentices meet the full requirements of the City & Guilds standard. 

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS 

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS 
Functional Skills may be required for some candidates who have reached the end of the terms for framework. Ie- GCSE exams are now more than 5 years old. 
 
The Functional Skills required for the Plumbing Framework are: 
 
Maths 
English 
 
The Functional Skills are completed by a portfolio of evidence and an exam (depending on your GCSE grades). If you completed the Level 1 or 2 programme you may not need to complete these at Level 3. 
 
TEACHING METHODS 
The programme is college based and you will be required to attend theory and practical lessons. 
 
 

FUNDING / COSTS 

APPRENTICESHIP Funding and Costs 
 
For apprentices aged 21 and over, employers are required to contribute 5% of the agreed training and assessment cost over the duration of the programme, unless the apprentice meets the government’s fully‑funded criteria.
